Another injury blow for Dons

SEN | INJURY UPDATE: Essendon assistant coach Ashley Prescott has revealed that Mark McVeigh will miss this week's clash with West Coast at Subiaco, after he injured his leg.

The news is a blow to the Bombers, who will already be without captain Matthew Lloyd, who is suffering from a bruised heel.

"Mark McVeigh has had a bit of bleeding that's gone down into his lower leg, so it looks likely he'll miss," Prescott said.

"Matthew Lloyd, hopefully it's just the one."

"He'll be touch and go next week."

With just five rounds left of the season, the Dons are in the precarious position of needing at least four wins to secure a finals berth.

The task has become all the more difficult without the two veterans, and question marks hanging over several players who pulled up sore after last week's loss to Richmond.

Andrew Lovett and Alwyn Davey both appeared to be limping at the side's recovery session on Monday, but Prescott insists they have recovered and will be fit to play.

The fixture is another hurdle for the Bombers, who are now faced with the arduous task of two Perth trips within four weeks, along with season defining clashes against Brisbane, St Kilda and Hawthorn.

Even so, Prescott says the Bombers are improving their travel record, and are focussed on the job ahead.

"We took a lot of confidence out of the recent victory we had up at the SCG," Prescott said.

"It's a massive game, and it's a final really for us."

"We just have to make sure that wherever we play, we play at one hundred percent."
