PGA of Australia has extended its agreement with the Queensland government to ensure the Australian PGA Championship remains on the Sunshine Coast for the next three years. Australia's oldest professional golf tournament has been hosted at the Hyatt Regency Coolum since 2002 and an announcement in Brisbane on Tuesday confirmed the resort would continue to be the event's home until 2012. Queensland's minister for sport Phil Reeves was thrilled that the partnership between Queensland Events and PGA of Australia could be renewed.

Australian Andrew Buckle has finished the Bogota Open in equal sixth position on eight-under after firing a final-round five-under-par 66. Buckle finished three shots off American duo Steve Pate and Aaron Watkins (11-under) who played a two-hole playoff to decide the title with Pate ultimately triumphant. The Aussie headed into the final round in a share of 22nd position but seven birdies and two bogeys on the last 18 ensured he finished level with Americans Kent Jones and John Riegger. Jamie Lovemark, William McGirt and Tag Ridings all finished equal third on nine-under-par. Won Joon Lee (one-under) was the next-best Australian in a share of 35th spot.

Colombian Camilo Villegas landed the Honda Classic title at Palm Beach in Florida after holding off a Justin Rose-led European challenge as Australian Nathan Green crumbled on the final day. Green, who started the day second overall, capitulated to close with a 77 that left him joint 12th on one-under-par. The 34-year-old's fourth round included three bogeys a double-bogey and a triple-bogey at the 17th. Rose shot a sparkling six-under-par 64 in his final round to jump to third place on seven under for the tournament, and fellow Englishman Paul Casey finished a shot behind in a share of fourth place with Fiji's Vijay Singh.

Golf's record major winner Jack Nicklaus expects his nearest challenger, Tiger Woods, to return from his self-imposed lay-off in time for next month's US Masters. Woods has been absent from the game since a minor car crash in November lifted the lid on a string of infidelities. A public apology last month failed to shed any light on a prospective return date, but March 25's Arnold Palmer Invitational has been speculated about as a possible first tournament back. That would get him back into action in time to challenge for a fifth Masters title at Augusta from April 8, which Nicklaus expects he will do.

Karrie Webb finished with a stunning 11-under-par round of 61 to complete a six-stroke win and clinch her seventh Australian Ladies Masters' title at Royal Pines. The 35-year-old Queenslander led by just a stroke overnight from compatriot Katherine Hull and Korean youngster Lee Bo-mee but started with three birdies in the first four holes. An eagle at the par-four 7th was the highlight of a front nine which also included a fourth birdie at the 9th, and she gained five more shots on the inward half to wrap up a dominant win at 26-under-par. Hull and Lee both shot six-under to share second place on 20-under-par, one shot clear of another Korean, Seo Hee-kyung.
